About Aperium AI
Aperium AI builds the orchestration layer for enterprise and defense AI. Our platform connects frontier AI models to the systems where real work happens — ERP, PLM, CRM, CLM, and healthcare platforms — through hundreds of production-grade integrations, a self-learning agent pipeline, and a memory architecture designed for high-stakes environments. Across our enterprise, defense, and AI-native business lines, we serve customers ranging from Fortune-scale enterprises to government and allied defense organizations, with teams in the United States, Vietnam, and Kyiv.
Summary
As a full-time UI/UX Engineer on the Aperium team, you will design and build intuitive, human-centered interfaces for AI-driven dashboards, agentic applications, and operational tools — from enterprise workflow surfaces to geospatial common operating pictures used in mission-critical settings. This is a hybrid design-engineering role: you will own the user experience from research and prototyping through production front-end implementation, working alongside product managers, AI/ML engineers, and end users to turn complex, multi-system workflows into elegant, trustworthy interfaces that drive adoption.
Responsibilities
- Design & Prototyping: Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups in Figma, ensuring consistency with the Aperium design system and brand guidelines.
- Front-End Implementation: Build and ship production-quality interfaces in React and TypeScript, translating your own designs into performant, accessible, well-tested components.
- Designing for AI: Craft and implement interaction patterns for agentic workflows — model reasoning transparency, human-in-the-loop approvals, confidence and provenance displays, and graceful handling of uncertainty.
- Information Architecture: Organize content and navigation for dense, data-rich web interfaces, including real-time dashboards, 3D geospatial views, and multi-domain analytical displays, optimizing task flows and accessibility.
- User Research & Iteration: Conduct interviews and usability tests with enterprise operators and mission users, run A/B tests, analyze behavioral metrics, and iterate on designs based on quantitative and qualitative feedback.
- Design Systems & Documentation: Extend and maintain a scalable design system in both Figma and code, documenting components, tokens, guidelines, and patterns for designers and developers across distributed teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, AI/ML engineers, and product owners to integrate design and front-end work into MCP-powered applications spanning ERP, PLM, CRM, and defense platforms.
- Accessibility, Security & Compliance: Ensure interfaces meet stringent security and privacy requirements, including designs suitable for airgapped and sovereign deployments, while embedding inclusive design principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Design, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of combined UI/UX design and front-end engineering experience, with a portfolio and shipped products demonstrating both design craft and production code.
- Strong proficiency in modern front-end development: React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and component-driven architecture; familiarity with state management, testing, and performance optimization.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Figma preferred) and user research platforms.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining a design system at scale, in both design tooling and code.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present designs and rationale to technical, executive, and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with data visualization and geospatial or mapping interfaces (e.g., D3, CesiumJS, Mapbox, deck.gl) is a strong plus.
- Experience designing or building for defense, intelligence, or other regulated, high-consequence domains is a plus; eligibility to work on US defense programs is a plus.
- Passion for accessibility, inclusive design, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work on-site full-time from our Los Angeles office.
This role offers the chance to define how humans interact with frontier AI systems in both enterprise and national-security contexts — and to build those interfaces yourself. If you are driven to create seamless, trustworthy experiences for consequential work and thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments, we would love to hear from you.
