Mentor — Batch Zero

Volunteer / Remote

Remote, fully online · ~2 hrs/week for 8 weeks · Volunteer, unpaid
Cohort 01: Nov 16, 2026 – Jan 10, 2027 · Demo Day Jan 15 · Apply: batchzero.co/apply/mentors

Batch Zero is an accelerator for high-school founders. Students who've already built something real apply, five teams get in per cohort, each paired with two mentors for eight weeks, ending in an online Demo Day. Free for founders, no equity. These aren't students with ideas — every team has shipped something before they get in.

The role: you take one team for eight weeks. Two mentors per team — one with domain expertise, one generalist working on the company itself. Not a teacher, not an investor. You're the person who already made the mistake they're about to make.

What you'll do

One 45–60 min session per week, on video, inside the platform
Help them set a real milestone and hold them to it
Review what they're actually shipping — product, pricing, outreach
Weeks 7–8: deck review and pitch practice
Optional: guest office hours for the cohort

What you won't do: invest, make investor intros, teach a curriculum, or be on call.

Time: ~2 hrs/week (session + prep), plus one 30-min onboarding call. One cohort is a bounded commitment — you can do one and stop.

Who we want

You've built or run something (operators over advisors), you can be direct with a 16-year-old without talking down or going soft, and you'll show up all eight weeks. No mentoring experience needed.

Requirements

Every founder is a minor, so these are non-negotiable:

Application, interview, and background check before matching
All sessions in-platform or on recorded calls, no private DMs or off-platform meetings
A short code of conduct
Anything concerning goes to the program, not handled alone

What you get

A team that's already shipped
Your name and bio on the site as a founding mentor
A first look at what teenagers are building
The mentor community
An invite to judge a future Demo Day

This is unpaid and a real commitment.

Compensation

Volunteer, unpaid.
