HPC High-Speed I/F Engineering Manager
Japan
Engineering – Software Engineer / Full-Time / On-Site
We're hiring an HPC High-Speed I/F Engineering Manager for a global semiconductor company developing flagship automotive SoCs — large-scale chips integrating CPU, cache, memory, high-speed interfaces, AI, video, functional safety, and security — powering the intelligence and electrification of next-generation vehicles.
About the role
As vehicles become increasingly electrified and intelligent, in-vehicle SoCs are becoming a key technology that defines the performance and capabilities of future mobility platforms.
The R-Car series continues to evolve as a high-performance automotive SoC platform, integrating a wide range of advanced SoC IPs, including CPU, high-speed interfaces, memory, AI/video processing, functional safety, and security technologies.
To support the development of next-generation automotive SoCs, the organization is strengthening its SoC IP development capabilities, including the selection, integration, and development of advanced IP solutions.
Within critical technology domains such as high-speed interface subsystems, we are seeking a leader who can combine technical expertise and organizational leadership to drive development activities, make key engineering decisions, and strengthen global development capabilities.
Responsibilities
- As a manager-level leader overseeing the design and development of high-speed interface subsystems for automotive SoCs (R-Car series), you will be responsible for both technical decision-making and organizational leadership, driving the overall development process.
- For high-speed interface technologies including PCIe, UCIe, USB, and UFS, you will define specification and architectural strategies, ensure quality through design reviews and technical decisions, and make trade-off decisions considering performance, power consumption, quality, schedule, and resource constraints.
- You will collaborate closely with SoC architects, subsystem managers, and project management teams to coordinate cross-functional activities and drive overall SoC optimization.
- As the technical owner, you will lead the resolution of critical technical and organizational challenges during the design and verification phases, while managing technical discussions with IP vendors, including specification alignment, technical negotiations, and issue resolution.
- You will also lead a global development team across Japan, India, and Vietnam, driving team organization, talent development, and organizational capability improvement.
Qualifications
Must Have
- Technical leadership experience at the subsystem or IP level, including design reviews, technical decision-making, and development policy definition.
- Experience coordinating technology development across multiple engineers and related teams.
- Ability to participate in technical discussions in English or experience working with global engineering teams.
- Business-level Japanese communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience as a Section Manager or equivalent people management role.
- Experience managing multiple engineers or distributed teams across different locations, including overseas development teams.
- Experience contributing to organizational management, including resource planning, staffing, and training activities.
- Experience participating in technology roadmap development and organizational planning from a medium- to long-term perspective.
- Experience in technical communication with external IP vendors and partners, including specification confirmation, constraint definition, and issue resolution.
- Practical experience in specification review, design, and verification of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, UCIe, USB, and UFS.
- Experience in automotive SoC development or products requiring high functional safety and quality standards.
- Knowledge of power separation design and physical design (P&R).
