HPC Automotive MCU CPU system engineer
Japan
Engineering – Software Engineer / Full-Time / On-Site
We're hiring an HPC Automotive MCU CPU system engineer for a global semiconductor company developing flagship automotive SoCs — large-scale chips integrating CPU, cache, memory, high-speed interfaces, AI, video, functional safety, and security — powering the intelligence and electrification of next-generation vehicles.
About the role
Their department urgently needs to strengthen its CPU architecture design capabilities, which will determine the future competitiveness of their products.
The CPU, the core of the system, affects performance, power consumption, cost, and safety, so they need engineers who can oversee the whole picture from a higher perspective than ever before.
The most important thing in architecture consideration is the ability to accurately assess system performance. It is not enough to simply compare theoretical values or specifications; it is necessary to understand actual use cases and bottlenecks and to be able to decide "where to allocate performance" and "where to compromise." To do this, it is essential to understand and be able to create programs oneself. Only by understanding the behavior of software can architectural decisions regarding CPU configuration, memory, bus, and interrupt design be made possible.
We are looking for engineers who can take responsibility for effective performance from a position of understanding both hardware and software.
You will be responsible for CPU architecture and system design for next-generation microcontroller/SoC products.
From architecture formulation based on quantitative KPIs to system construction and evaluation with target applications in mind, this position plays a central role in product competitiveness.
Responsibilities
-
Formulation of an architecture policy based on CPU architecture KPIs (performance, power consumption, area, scalability, etc.)
-
Planning, implementation, and analysis of results for PPA (Performance/Power/Area) benchmarks.
-
Designing and building a system configuration, including CPU, memory, and peripheral IP, that meets the requirements of the target application.
-
Clarifying trade-offs in architecture and system configuration, and proposing solutions based on technical rationale.
-
Technical collaboration and coordination with related departments (hardware design, software, business divisions, etc.)
Qualifications
【MUST】
-
Over 5 years of experience in performance evaluation and optimization using real-world applications (control, automotive, embedded systems, etc.)
-
Over 2 years of knowledge and evaluation experience with CPU IP (ARM, RISC-V, etc.)
-
Experience in design flows such as logic synthesis, timing analysis, and power analysis.
-
Experience in RTL design (Verilog HDL/VHDL design, verification, and logic synthesis).
-
Practical experience in creating technical documents and conducting technical discussions in English.
-
Japanese: Ability to converse and communicate at a business level.
-
English: Those who are comfortable using English in a practical setting (reading, writing, and speaking).
【WANT】
-
CPU design experience
-
Implementation experience (timing design, layout)
-
English: Able to hold everyday conversations (TOEIC score of around 600)
